Michiel’s activities as a musician
Michiel Hollanders got into music as a teenager, playing in bands, hanging out in the local studio and building his own crappy guitars out of scrap wood. He went on to study classical and jazz guitar, music production and composition. He toured with various roots music bands throughout Europe, Australia and Russia and was involved in the production of a large number of albums, some of which got nominated or even awards in one case. After moving to Greece in 2014, he has been focusing mainly on music production, with various collaborations via the internet.
A couple of highlights of his past activities are:
- Argentine tango guitar duo with classical guitar virtuoso Izhar Elias (2000-2004)
- Balkan band ‘Parne Gadje’ 5 albums and many tours throughout Europe and Russia (2002-2014)
- Singer Songwriter project ‘Big Low’ 2 albums 1EP and many tours in Europe and Australia (2003-2012)
- Regular collaboration with composer and ud virtuoso Kamal Hors 1 album 4 documentaries 1 theatre show (2000-present)
- Sideman on Parissa Bouas EP ‘The Full Force Of The Wind’ (also co production, winner of 4 NCEIA awards 2012/2013)
- Co-producer of Tatar/Australian singer Zulya Kamalova’s acclaimed album ‘Six Days Loving’ (2019)
- Co-producer of Moon Cabaret’s debut album ‘Mr Moon’ (2021)
In the winter of 2022/23 Michiel made some short Tip Tok style video’s, filming himself on multiple instruments, with some tracks of his own, under the anagram Minheli LeCloshard and others. These can be seen on TikTok or Youtube, see below some examples. He has also taken up playing the Greek Laouto as can be seen in a little video in duet with his father-in-law Dimitris Rizos.
