Yiannis Mitsios Quintet
Yiannis is a gifted guitar player from our hometown Arta, but due to circumstances we never met: He moved to Holland to study Jazz Guitar in Amsterdam and later Rotterdam, just in the early years when we had moved to Greece, and didn’t have the studio yet up and running. Rumour about our work reached his ears though and when he was getting ready to record his first album he got in touch to talk about mixing it. We were from the onset very excited about his work. Yiannis is known around these parts as ‘that incredible shredder kid’ as he was deeply involved in rock and metal in his teenage years. He of course also has his Greek musical roots, and developed a strong Jazz vocabulary while in Holland. On his first album he proves not only to be an excellent instrumentalist, but a great composer too. All the tunes on the album are his. He surrounded himself with a fantastic band, several young musicians who will very likely make a name for themselves in the international Modern Jazz scene: Marios Charalampous from Cyprus on Tenor Sax, Daniel Bulatkin from the Czech Republic on Piano and Keys, Nikolas Tsangaris from Cyprus on Drums, and Eva Serrano from Spain on Contrabass. The first single of the album has been released with video: https://youtu.be/M-NmyYRUCd8?si=l-UtR84Xj7FMe_JZ and talks are underway for the album to be released on a label.
